Have you ever wanted to go to Greece but couldn’t afford it or find the time to fly, or maybe perhaps you are a wanted hitman in Greece and just can’t go? Well do I have the solution for you! SCS Software, the creator of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and its counterpart American Truck Simulator has launched a new map expansion adding the country of Greece to the already-huge map of Europe. Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a simulation game where you run a trucking company in Europe (as one could guess) and also deliver parcels yourself, which is how one starts in the game being a lone driver. With all this being said, let’s learn a little bit about Greece!
So the first city we started in, is of course the capital and most well-known city, Athens!
Athens (Αθήνα) is the capital city of Greece located on the Gulf of Egina. Athens can be seen as a culture city featuring many historical sites. The city has been beautifully modeled with an emphasis on its nature-rich environment being surrounded by mountains and the ocean. It is a city which offers a variety of companies and ports to 4 cities spread over 3 islands (islands of Crete, Rhodes, Lesbos, and Chios).
The roads of Athens at night are beautifully lit, and the city at day, as you can see above, is just as majestic. I did take note that there was mostly (if not only) English on the poster on the right saying “Delusion.” which may or may not be realistic for Greece, which is majority Greek as seen in the other photos.
Now while there weren’t many new companies around, I did note some things which I found awesome.
Happy holidays is what I took this to be! Just looks so jolly! (Plus I’ve never seen it before!)
Now moving on to the next city, Heraklion (Ηράκλειο) on the island of Crete. It is the biggest island that Greece owns and can be accessed through the port at Athens! This island features a lot of hilly (or mountain) roads winding up and down them. There are two “main” cities modeled on the island being Chania and Heraklion connected via a bendy road in the middle.
I love this little suburb area that exists, and Heraklion looks even more beautiful at night with its lit-up buildings. Take a look!
Last but not least we visited Patras (Πάτρα) located on the Gulf of Patras. an important city in Greek mythology, a city full of battles and sieges and a very diverse nightlife in the current times. Because the city is connected to the Gulf bearing it’s name it has several port connections it offers connections to Argostoli and Ioannina, as it is connected to the ports it offers a wild variety of cargo you can transport to anywhere within Greece and beyond (if you own the West Balkan DLC).
