Who Are We? We are UTSA’s first Gaming Reviews and News organization! We are an independent organization (not tied to the Roost, UTSA, or the Roadrunner Gaming Association) – however, we only accept current UTSA students and UTSA alumni!
Our Mission Statement: We foster a vibrant community of gamers who appreciate diverse perspectives, celebrate independent game development, and promote critical discourse in the gaming industry. We strive to bridge the gap between creators and players, ensuring that every review not only informs but also inspires our audience to explore new gaming experiences.
Information About Us: We’re Steam Curator certified, and Games Press certified! We have almost 60 people at the moment, and are constantly growing – so if you fit the bill, shoot us a request through our Contact form and we’ll get back to you!
Meet The Officers:
Andrew Dotson is the Founder, Visionary of, and Reviewer for The Rooster. He’s been a gamer much of his life, and also carries with him two years of industry experience to help elevate The Rooster into a wonderful gaming journalist.
More recently, he has expanded into the realm of roleplaying games with board games such as Dungeons and Dragons and Magic: The Gathering. Not a picky gamer, he really likes whatever he can get his hands on, excluding horror games! He does have some all-time favorites though—Simulation, Sandbox, Action and Puzzle games (in some circumstances). In his freetime, he typically programs, games (obviously!) and chills watching television dramas.
Jon Maani is a reviewer for The Rooster, and serves as the first ever Staff Manager as well as Executive Manager. He has over 10 years of gaming experience, starting from Dungeons and Dragons and Snake before graduating to Call of Duty, Resident Evil, and Deathloop.
He’s a big fan of shooters, action, and escape rooms – if it has zombies or time travel, he’s your man! During his free time, Jon can be found reading modern fantasy, replaying his favorite time loop games, or practicing his choral talents in the shower. His reviews cover everything from control schemes, gameplay, achievements, and much more – making sure that no detail gets overlooked.
Daniel Morman is a reviewer for The Rooster, and serves as the first ever Technical Manager. He’s currently a Computer Science major at UTSA, a huge computer nerd, and a lover fan of Sci-Fi in all platforms.
His top games at the moment? Minecraft, Starmade, and Satisfactory. Whether it’s playing on different servers in Minecraft, or embracing his creative abilities in Starmade and Satisfactory, Daniel will always be found enjoying and utilizing his skills everywhere he goes.

Joshua Gray is a journalist for The Rooster and serves as the first ever Managing Reviewer. He’s currently a cybersecurity major at UTSA, and a huge fan of video games (obviously).
His favorite video games are the ones from his childhood, Minecraft and Touhou chief among them – his favorite genres, on the other hand, are open-world, sandbox, and exploration games!
Marcel Bayona is a reviewer for The Rooster, and serves as the first ever Managing Editor.
